Dear visitor and reader of this website,

Allow me to introduce myself: I am Rolf Versen, born in 1949 — a humanist with gasoline in my blood, who loves and appreciates "anything that roars," on water, on land and in the air. After my popular books on the Mille Miglia, Tour Auto, Trofeo Baleares and DTM, there followed 20 years of literary pause, during which I produced, among other things, a 15-episode documentary series of 30 minutes each for Motorvision, broadcast on Sky under the title SiebenMeere TV, for which I sailed nearly halfway around the world.

Now I have picked up the pen again. A personal, fast-paced journey through post-war automotive history is the motto under which I describe the evolution of the automobile after 1949 from a deeply personal perspective. The quirks, peculiarities, foibles and joys of the cars mentioned are vividly described and illustrated.

Of course, COB 6043 — my Shelby Cobra — plays a starring role, especially since racing was a beloved hobby and this muscle car was the perfect tool for it. Let yourself be enchanted, seduced, and dive into the world of the automobile — pure pleasure, no regrets.

Across 144 pages, I share my personal experiences with countless post-war automobiles — from the split-window Beetle to the Ferrari. Anecdotes, character studies of each car, and seven decades of automotive evolution come together in one volume. Aaron Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby, wrote the foreword — accompanied by a photo of Aaron in 1990 in Palm Springs, the very event where I first met Carroll Shelby.

The book is printed in black & white with a hardcover binding. It contains many lovingly produced illustrations and an appendix listing every vehicle described. The English print edition is available on Amazon.com. The Kindle edition is available in English, German, Italian, Spanish, and French.
